Adding curriculum/sections to course

Curriculum refers to the lessons/academic content taught by educators or the contents in a specific course or program.

Curriculums are necessary to develop a roadmap toward the goal. Having a curriculum allows students to navigate through the topics to revise any specific part easily. It also assists the teachers/educators in understanding what will come next and preparing accordingly.

After successfully creating a new course, the next step is to add a new section to the course curriculum. This can be done easily by following the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the course page and locate the side panel.
  2. Click on the “Curriculum” option in the side panel to access the course curriculum.
  3. Once you are on the curriculum page, click on the “Add Section” button to create a new section.
Enter the details

Section name: Enter the name of the topic.

Label: It could be named a chapter, unit, topic, etc.

Description: Add a relevant description.

Contents: Under content, there are four possible categories in which the content can be categorized. Learn more about them in the following steps:

1. Notes/Videos:

Enter any relevant Title for the content you are adding, and Select the content type, whether it’s media content such as a video or any readable piece of notes.

Click on Next Step.

Add text/code using the panel below. While adding a video, you may directly paste the video link.

Click Next Step if you wish to add a summary; otherwise, click on Update.

2. Quiz: In Quizzes, students can view the answers to each attempted question as they progress through the quiz. This allows them to review their answers and learn from their mistakes.

To add a quiz to your course, first, use the green button to select between published quizzes and draft quizzes. Once you have located the quiz you wish to add, click on it to select it.

Once you have selected the quizzes you want to add, click on the “Add Quiz” button to add them to your course. The quizzes will then be displayed in the course curriculum, and students will be able to access them as they progress through the course.

3. Assessment: In the assessment, the answers to the questions are revealed to the students at the end of the assessment after they submit the assessment.

  • Use the green button to choose between published assessments and draft assessments.
  • Select the quizzes and click on Add Assessment.

4. Attachments:

Attachments that can be reused will appear here.

If you wish to add files from your system, you can drag and drop them; alternatively, files can be uploaded here. Below it add a title and summary about the upload.

Enter the Type of content you have added to the section.

Suppose you wish to add any external resource such as a youtube video link, webpage, etc. Paste the link in the URL box, and add the relevant title and brief description about the added content in the summary. (Refer the image below)

Enter the Type of content you have added to the section.

Click on Add Content.

Click on Publish to make the section available for students.

In addition to creating a curriculum, you also have the ability to control access to certain sections. This can be done using the buttons beside each section.

The first option is Demo. If you select this option, students will be able to access the section without purchasing the entire course.

The second option is Optional. If you mark a section as optional, students have the choice to attempt it before moving on to the next section. The section marked as optional can be skipped without affecting the student’s overall progress in the course.

Finally, you have the option to Unlock certain sections. When you select this option, the section will be restricted and only available for students to access when you unlock it. This can be useful if you want to control the pace of the course or only allow certain students to access certain sections.
