Adding chapters/sections to course

Chapters refer to the lessons/academic content taught by educators or the contents in a specific course or program.

Chapters are necessary to develop a roadmap toward the goal. Having chapters allows students to navigate through the topics to revise any specific part easily. It also assists the teachers/educators in understanding what will come next and preparing accordingly.

After successfully creating a new course, the next step is to add a new chapter to the course. This can be done easily by following the steps below:

1. Navigate to the course page and select the course you want to add a chapter.

2. Click the “Chapters” option on the left-side menu.

3. Once you are on the chapter page, click the “Add Chapter” button to create a new chapter.

  1.

Enter the details

Name: Enter the name of the chapter.

Label: It could be named a unit, topic, etc.

Description: Add a relevant description.

Sections: Under section, there are four possible categories in which the section can be categorized. Learn more about them in the following steps:

1. Notes:

Enter any relevant title for the Notes you are adding and the brief content for the Summary.

You must add Text or Code by clicking the button at the bottom right corner.

Next, click on Save.

2. Quiz: In Quiz, students can view the answers to each attempted question as they progress through the quiz. This allows them to review their answers and learn from their mistakes.

To add a quiz to your course, first, use the toggle button to select between published quizzes and draft quizzes. Once you have located the quiz you wish to add, click on it to select it.

Once you have selected the quiz you want to add, click the “Add Quiz” button to add them to your course. The quiz will then be displayed in the course chapter, and students can access it as they progress through the course.

3. Assessment: In the assessment, the answers to the questions are revealed to the students at the end of the assessment after they submit the assessment.

    • Use the toggle button to choose between published assessments and draft assessments.

    • Select the assessment and click on Add Assessment.

4. Video/eBook:

Choose the type of content you want to add, either Video or eBook.

Paste the link in the Url box, and add the relevant title and brief description about the added content in the summary.

Next, click on Add Content.

After filling in the details, click the Save button in the top right corner to finish creating a chapter.

Click on Publish to make the chapter available for students.

In addition to creating a chapter, you can also control access to certain chapters. The buttons beside each chapter allow you to do this.

The first option is Demo. If you select this option, students will be able to access the chapter without purchasing the entire course.

The second option is Optional. If you mark a chapter as optional, students have the choice to attempt it before moving on to the next chapter. The chapter marked as optional can be skipped without affecting the student’s overall progress in the course.

Finally, you have the option to Unlock certain chapters. When you select this option, the chapter will be restricted and only available for students to access when you unlock it. This can be useful if you want to control the pace of the course or only allow certain students to access certain chapter.
