HighScores Release: September 23, 2024

At HighScores, we’re always working to bring the best tools to educators and students alike. With this latest release, we’ve packed in exciting new features and improvements to help you manage classrooms more efficiently and provide a smoother experience for your students.

Here’s a look at what’s new and how it can help you.

Platform Updates:

Subject-Wise Composite Score in Attempt Reports

Previously, the composite score in attempt reports was quite small and hard to find, which made it difficult for teachers and students to easily see and analyze the data. Now, we’ve improved this by making the composite score much more visible in the downloaded report, right below the subject name. This change makes it easier for teachers to quickly assess student performance at a glance.

Additionally, we’ve updated the report layout from landscape to portrait format, providing a cleaner and more user-friendly design for better readability.

How to Access:
Download any attempt report from result review page, and you’ll see the composite score under the subject name.

New Layout for Creating and Editing Questions

Before this update, creating and editing questions required navigating through multiple tabs, one for each instructions, questions, options, and explanations. This made the process time-consuming. Now, we’ve redesigned the layout to combine everything on a single page, which simplifies the process and saves time for users when creating or editing questions.

Additionally, we’ve also optimized our equation loading process to be faster and more efficient than ever before. With this improvement, you can have a smoother experience that saves you time.

How to Access:
Go to the “Create or Edit Question” section in the question bank, and all the steps will now appear on one page.

Reviewer Role in Classroom Settings

Previously, directors could only add teachers as instructors, which sometimes resulted in assessments being modified or removed unintentionally. With this update, directors can now assign teachers as “Reviewers.” Reviewers can view the added content (like assessments, courses, or test series) and check the results, but they won’t be able to add or remove any content or students. This gives creator more control over the classroom.

How to Access:
Classroom -> Open any classroom -> Settings -> Reviewers -> Type the teacher’s name.

Terminate Ongoing Attempts

Ongoing attempts refer to attempts where the student began the test but never submitted or completed it, typically due to closing the browser or leaving the session unfinished. Previously, teachers couldn’t terminate a student’s ongoing attempt if needed. Now, we’ve added a new feature allowing teachers to terminate any ongoing attempt. This helps teachers manage their classroom more efficiently, especially during tests.

How to Access:
Open an assessment -> Go to Results -> If an attempt is still ongoing, you’ll see the option to terminate it.

What’s Coming Next:

Comment Box for Flagging Questions

We’re adding a comment box that will appear for every option when flagging a question. Additionally, we are also reorganizing and adding a new report option. This will allow users to provide detailed feedback when they flag a question, helping us understand the issue better.

Dashboard for Flagged Issues

We’ll soon be launching a dashboard specifically for flagged issues, helping teachers and directors track and review flagged questions easily.

Content Updates:

150 Hard Math Questions Added

We’ve enriched our question pool with 150 new hard math questions to provide more targeted practice for students. These questions are designed to challenge students and help them improve their problem-solving skills, pushing them to achieve better results.

What’s Coming Next:

Redesigned DSAT Tests

We’re excited to share that we’re updating six DSAT tests to include more challenging questions. These tests are designed to push students to improve their scores by investing more time and effort into their learning. We have also replaced few questions from the existing tests. The questions are thoughtfully curated to reflect recent SAT exams and challenge students to think critically, ensuring they are prepared for the real test.

DSAT Explanation Updates
We’re also enhancing DSAT Math and English explanations. Math explanations will now include step-by-step solutions and Desmos visuals, where necessary. For English, we’re adding tips and tricks to help students master key strategies.

We’re committed to continuously improving HighScores to better serve both educators and students. These updates are designed to enhance your teaching and provide students with the tools they need for success. We hope you enjoy these new features, and we look forward to hearing your feedback.

Happy teaching!
